Smt. Sharmila Mukerjee (Choreographer)
 

Bio: Sharmila Mukerjee is the founder and artistic director of Sanjali Centre for Odissi Dance in Bangalore which was established in 2004. A Grade A artist of Doordarshan and an Established artist of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations. Sharmila has performed at various prestigious festivals and conferences in India and abroad in countries like Fiji, Malaysia, Australia , New Zealand, Italy, U.S.A, Indonesia and U.A.E. Sharmila is also a choreographer and has created many dance pieces and directed a number of productions in Odissi, notable among them-Hansika( an adaptation of Swan Lake),Sookshma ( based on the Flowering Tree by A.K Ramanujan) ,Kaikeyi and the poet,Kalidas's Ritusamhara among many others.

 
Srijita Sanyal

Bio: Srijita has dedicated herself to upholding the traditional dance form of Odissi under the tutelage of her Guru Smt. Sharmila Mukerjee. Srijita began her journey in Odissi dance at a very young age in her native in Kolkata. Following her passion, she has performed extensively across India and abroad. Some of her recent performances are- Dover Lane Festival, Kolkata, Konark Festival, Orissa, Mukteshwar Festival, Orissa, Pravasi Bhartiya Divas , Soorya Festival, Kerala and many more. Apart from dancing she is also an Educator at an International School in Bangalore.

 
 
Kanika Bhattacharya
 

Bio: Kanika, a senior disciple of Smt. Sharmila Mukerjee has been learning and performing as a member of Sanjali Ensemble for 8 years. She has performed all over India and also abroad representing the Ministry of Indian Cultural Association. Some of her notable performances include:Mukteswar dance festival, Bhubaneswar, Dover Lane music festival, Kolkata, Uday Shankar Dance festival, Kolkata, Konark Dance Festival, Konark and many more. She has completed her B.Tech in Computer science and Technology and currently is working as senior project manager in an IT firm in Bangalore.

 
Surajit Som

Bio: Surajit began his intensive training under guidance of Guru Smt. Sharmila Mukerjee. He has been participating as a Sanjali Ensemble in many festivals across India (Bangalore, Kerala, Bhubaneswar, Mumbai, Chennai, Hyderabad and Chandigarh) and abroad (Tunisia) as well/ Some his memorable performances were in Mukteshwar Dance Festival 2017, Bhubaneshwar ,Dover Lane music festival, Kolkata, Uday Shankar Dance festival, Kolkata, Konark Dance Festival, Konark and many more. Currently he is an Assistant Teacher at Sanjali for beginner and junior batches.

 
 
Swetha Sridharan
 

Bio: Swetha Sridharan is pursuing her Odissi dance training under the able guidance of her guru Smt. Sharmila Mukherjee in Bangalore since 2016. With lots of hard-work and dedication she joined Sanjali Ensemble and performed with the team in some of the prestigious dance festivals like Konark Festival, Konark, Maargasheershothsav, Bangalore, Navaayanam festival, Madanotsava,Bangalore. She currently works as a Technical Writer for an organisation. She was also trained for a few years in Carnatic and Hindustani music (vocal).

 
Suranjana

Bio: Suranjana is taking lessons in Odissi under Guru Smt Sharmila Mukerjee at Sanjali Centre for Odissi Dance, Bangalore. She has taught dance at 'Association for Social Health in India. Suranjana has performed with her guru as a part of Sanjali Ensemble at several festivals some of which are- Soorya Dance Festival, Kerala, Mukteshwar Dance Festival, Bhubaneswar, Dover Lane Dance Festival, Kolkata, Uday Shankar Dance Festival, December, Kolkata Konark Festival, Konark and many more. She has also travelled with Sanjali Ensemble in Tunisia for Festival India- 2018, organised by Indian Embassy in Tunisia.

 
 
Preeti Banerjee
 

Bio: Preeti Banerjee, disciple of Guru Guru Sharmila Mukherjee stepped into the world of Odissi at her native in Kolkata. The first breakthrough milestone in her dancing career came in the form of an award "NRITYA SHREE' in Cuttack Mahotsav, Orissa. Apart from her dancing career academically she has completed her graduation degree from Calcutta University. She has also received a certificate of excellence from the Department of Parliamentary Affairs. Some Memorable Performances are: Konark Dance Festival, Orissa, Mukteshwar Festival, Orissa, Soorya Festival, Kerala, Uday Shankar Dance Festival, Kolkata, Kala Ghoda Festival, Mumbai, Pravasi Bharatiya Divas, organized by Ministry of External Affairs, Festival of India organised by Indian Embassy in Tunisia, and many more in Bangalore, Indore, Delhi, Kolkata. Currently she is one of the Assistant teachers at Sanjali and also handling administration work at Sanjali.

 
Aparna Mohapatra

Bio: Aparna Mohapatra started her journey in the field of Odissi at the age of four under the tutelage in Delhi. Having moved to Bangalore in 2009 , Aparna further pursued her passion under the guidance of Guru Smt. Sharmila Mukherjee at the Sanjali Centre For Odissi Dance. Aparna has performed on several occasions in group at the Odissi Kendra Dakshinanjali Utsav – New Delhi, India Habitat Centre (New Delhi), Chinna Kalanadam- Bangalore, Tagore's Chandalika in Odissi (Choreographed and directed by Smt. Sharmila Mukherjee) , The Bengaluru Temple Festival, Nritya Sangeeta Milana – Bengaluru, Putani Heje by Shri Shekhar Rajendran, Ponnambalam temple of fine arts festival,Kinkini Nrityostava – 2014,Odissi Sandhya 2019. She was also among the top 15 finalists of the International odissi festival in 2016-17. Currently pursuing an MBBS course from St Johns Medical College, Bangalore. She is a grade 4 piano artist from the Trinity School, London and has trained in Hindustani classical music for 4 years.

 
 
Anushree Padmanabha
 

Bio: Anushree Padmanabha developed interest in art at a very young age. Apart from learning Odissi under the guidance of Smt. Sharmila Mukerjeeis also an established Carnatic singer and painter. Anushree has been touring with the Sanjali Dance Ensemble since and has been one of the principal dancers of the esteemed institute. Among many dance performances, a few are: Dover Lane Dance festival, Dance jathre, Bangalore International Arts Festival, Dhauli Kalinga Mahotsav, Bengaluru Odissi Utsav, Madanotsava.

 
Anuradha Ghosh

Bio: Anuradha is pursuing her training in Bangalore at Sanjali Centre for Odissi Dance under the able tutelage of Odissi exponent and eminent Guru - Smt. Sharmila Mukherjee. She had also got the opportunity to attend workshops by eminent Odissi Gurus. She performs with the Sanjali ensemble with her Guru's blessings. Some of her performances are- Konark Festival, Konark, Bangalore Odissi Utsav, Navaayanam - Bangalore, Bangalore International Arts Festival, Chhandak Utsav - Indore, Kalabharati National Festival - Ernakulam, Hubbali Habba, Madanotsav, Pravaha Dance Festival, Naman Festival, Uday Shankar Dance Festival, Navaayanam etc.
